U19 Division (Denmark) – HB Køge vs FC Helsingør

HB Køge won the match by showing initiative during most of the game. The score (3-1) can be a reflection of the match where HBK were aggressive on and off the ball with a flexible form during build up and lots of movements off the ball which gave them opportunities to attack the spaces created.

HB Køge under the guidance of coach Mathias Stenstrøm Knudsen used a 1-3-4-3 formation which gave the freedom to the stoppers and central midfielders to shift up the pitch (1-4-2-3-1) and get the ball behind Helsingør’s press and the wingers to come centrally and attack the half spaces. This provided them with more time on the ball in the midfield and created many overloads with dynamic receiving outside the box.

FC Helsingør, coached by Morten Mundus Olsen, used a 1-4-2-3-1 formation where in the build up phase formed a box in the midfield when the striker dropped deep in the half space and gave both the opportunity to become link up play options.

On the occasions that it was used it provided good chances to break out HBK’s press and also gave them the first big chance in the game.

Best potential players in this match?

Mads Schütt Rasmussen (HB Køge), central midfielder born in 2006.

Mads can clearly stand out with his presence in the midfield with his energy both on and off the ball especially when the opponent goes to transition. HBK’s overall approach which gave many responsibilities on the right side got him the ball many times and his choices were mostly on point as well as his control over the tempo. Good player technically with good acceleration and intelligence on reading the game on and off the ball can be really useful.

Even though his ability on the air can be problematic, his reading of the game along with his positioning and his attacking initiatives when he wins the ball can make him a useful tool for teams that need an all around player in the midfield. Considering that he is a second year on the u19s he should definitely be given chances to prove himself in a professional level with similar level to 1st or 2nd Division.

Mikkel Rohde Durlev (HB Køge), defensive midfielder born in 2005.

Mikkel’s background to elite youth football can be easily seen in his overall technical ability base and his intelligence on the game. Him being used as a third stopper while defending and on some build up occasions and him stepping up in the build up in most goal kick situations is a testament to that. Many recoveries on the opponent and own half in addition to him being aggressive on the ball can make him an asset for teams that want to hold on the ball and need players with courage on the ball.

Taking his age into account (2005, 3rd year u19) he should be looking for first team minutes and maybe his physical disadvantage could see him in clubs or divisions that can help him overcome that obstacle. Especially in playing styles that require a fluid defensive line of three.

Ibrahim Figuigui (HB Køge), attacking midfielder born in 2007.

His complex role and his continuous change of position in a double pivot helped him show his intelligence mainly when his team was in possession. Interesting turning speed and purpose on his first touch whenever he got the ball that helped HBK engage into counter attacks or exploit late pressure from FCH. His awareness brought him in very dangerous positions which with a bit more focus could provide with a goal or an assist. Good in 1v1 especially with pressure coming from his back and while taking initiative to go and find 1v1’s his choice of when and how showed that he has a lot of potential.

With a complex role in the midfield and with a clear physical disadvantage, his coping with the situation makes him a very interesting player to look at. His development seems very promising (u19’s first year) if he is put on the ball a bit more and taking minutes either in higher intensity games or getting senior football on his feet.

Emilio Mohammad Hasan (HB Køge), winger born in 2006.

Emilio had influence on the game despite him being isolated a lot from FCH and having an awkward position against a low block. Good first touch and positioning without a ball which connected well with his readiness to engage in a deep run or create chances. Definitely one of the players to follow as he seems to be a dangerous player if given space.

His involvement with the first team could be really exciting as he will definitely get more minutes at senior level and can be seen as a senior level for 1st Division football, as HBK has a very clear approach and keeping talented players like Emilio seems that he has been seen from the club as a good prospect.

To FOLLOW also FCH winger Rasmus Ahrensbøll Sjøholm (2006), defensive midfielder Cornelius Seamus Bjerregård Kilpatrick (2006) and offensive midfielder Hjalte Tarp Madsen (2006).
