The Žalgiris namų stadionas (formerly known as LFF Stadionas when it served as the Lithuanian national team’s ground until 2022) hosted the 35th round of the A Lyga between two sides qualified for European football next season. Hegelmann created the better chances in the first half, but Žalgiris proved the more clinical team, taking the lead before the break and extending their advantage in the second half. The hosts ultimately secured a 3–1 victory.
Žalgiris, coached by Rolandas Džiaukštas in a 1-4-3-3 formation, kept their centre-backs far apart in the build up to allow their midfielders to drop and link up (see image below).

On the wings, their full-backs and wingers (in this case the right chain Moutachy-Jarusevičius) showed to have a good attacking relationship by performing well-timed opposite movements to try exploiting the space behind the opposition wide players (see image below).

Hegelmann, coached by Andrius Skerla in a 1-3-4-3 formation, demonstrated a great organization especially in possession where they seemed to have good control of the ball and positional awareness. During the build up their left winger Ribeiro (just signed by Žalgiris Vilnius) moved in a central position behind the opposition midfield line (see image below) while the striker Abdel Kader Njoya and the right winger Patrick Popescu stretched the opposition defense.

Out of possession they pressed high and was challenged by the opposition, especially in the first half, when the Hegelmann’s left wingback Duke pushed up onto the central option leaving space on the outside (see image below).

The finest details in their own box defined the result as the first and third goal conceded came off unfortunate deflections and an own goal.
