Sönderjyske, after getting in front in the beginning of the match, could not keep the lead and suffered Aalborg comeback which turned into a heavy defeat for the home team (1-5). Although at the moment positioned in the bottom of the table, both teams showcased talented players.
Sönderjyske, coached by Niklas Vincentz in a 1-4-3-3 formation, played often direct with long passes towards their tall striker Larsen with the two fast wingers ready to run in behind on the flick (see image below).

Their goal also came from a long pass by their goalkeeper Rasmussen which developed into a successful finish from close range by Hjort-Pedersen (9′).
They high pressed on goal-kicks with good intensity and forced mistakes to regain the ball in the opposition half. Their two wingers were responsible to press the opposition centre-backs while their striker dropped to ‘absorb’ the nearest midfielder. Their side midfielders were ready to press out wide against the opposition full-backs (as you can see in the image below).

AaB, coached by Frederik Jørgensen in a 1-4-2-3-1 formation, built up mainly with 4+2 with the two central midfielders dropping low to link up and their offensive midfielder Diagne higher between the lines ready to attack the space in behind when the striker Fjeldgaard dropped (see image below).

Out of possession they ‘mirrored’ their opponents offensive shape by closing down the opposition central midfielder with their offensive midfielder and with their striker splitting the opposition centre-backs to force the play towards one side (see image below).

They were clinical in taking advantage of the opposition mistakes in their defensive third and effective in serving their striker Fjeldgaard, who scored twice in the crucial part (44′ & 56′) of the match.
