U17 International Friendly – Hungary vs Estonia

The U17 national teams of Hungary and Estonia faced each other two times in the middle of November, within two days, in UTE’s training basis (Újpest, Budapest, Hungary). The clash played in the 12th of November has ended with Estonian win, by the final score of 0-1.

12 November, 2025. The youth national teams (age group U17) of Hungary and Estonia played a friendly match in a cloudy afternoon, in Újpest (Budapest, Hungary). Both teams finished with their Round 1 qualifying games for the 2026 UEFA European Under-17 Championship back in this year’s October — Estonia took the 4th place in its group (“Group 1”), while Hungary obtained the 3rd position (in “Group 2”). Despite the Estonians finished last in their quartet, they will take part in the major tournament by hosting it.

The Hungarian team, led by coach Gergő Jeremiás, started the match in a 4-2-3-1 reminiscent shape. They demonstrated great ability to regain the possession with immediate effect, while their quick and creative combinations worked effectively through the offensive play. Team captain Noel Polonkai (player for AKA Austria Wien U18, in Austria) came up as the main playmaker, by showcasing his exceptional technique and playmaking skills, mixed to superb vision and leadership.

Estonia on the opposition side, led by Marko Pärnpuu, opted for 4-4-2 (double 6) formation (with Robert Mihhalevski & Jaron Silm in the Number 6 positions), and put the emphasis on forcing the Hungarian players into tough physical challenges, in addition to seek for the opportunities to make dynamic counter-attacks. Team captain Ronald Sammul (left centre-back) should be highlighted for his great defensive performance and leadership. Despite the team down to ten men caused by a red card in the 67th minute, they were able to keep the one-goal lead until the final whistle.

Uku Korjus (left midfielder for the Estonian team) scored the game’s only one goal in the 24th minute, by the assist (a right-footed low cross) of teammate Aston Visse (0-1).

(The moments at the game’s only one hit — 0-1 for the Estonian U17 national team)

The two teams faced again at the same time and venue on 14 November, 2025, which clash has ended with Hungary‘s win, by the final score of 2-0.
