Lithuanian Pirma Lyga 2025, Matchday 23. FK Nevėžis faced FK Babrungas in the Kėdainiai Stadium, and both teams gained one point after the final whistle, by the score of a 1-1 draw.

FK Nevėžis, led by its Latvian coach Dmitrijs Kalašņikovs, started the game in a 4-5-1 reminiscent shape, with two wide midfielders (Dutch-Surinamese Myles Veldman on the left side and local born Vakaris Skibiniauskas on the right); the defensive / off-ball system turned to be 4-4-2, with the Yevgeniy Mogil – Ugnius Avizovas duo up front (as you can see by the images below). Both Mogil and Avizovas played key roles in the team’s tactics: the Ukrainian striker Mogil had to participate in important aerial situations in the midfield zone and in/near the final third; the Lithuanian U19 national player Avizovas, with his excellent mobility and versatility, has offered quality support for his teammates in every crucial areas of the pitch, hand in hand with shaping the game by his great playmaking abilities. Goalkeeper Emilis Urbonas also can be highlighted, by demonstrating good potential and also a good goalkeeping performance.

FK Babrungas on the opposition side (whose home league match against FK Minija we covered here), under the guidance of Plungė born coach Kęstutis Petkus, has started in a 4-3-3 reminiscent formation. Karolis Mantinis (who played as Number 6), often joined the back-line, to start to build up the play from there; Japanese central midfielder Shogo Tabata, made several brilliant and useful long-range passes, mainly to the flanks, to back the offensive wing-play (as you can see below). Brazilian players Renan Martimiano (STR) and Pedro Bahia (RW) understood each other well through the offensive play; the full-backs/wing-backs (Lukas Čepkauskas as right-back and Marius Skirmantas as left-back) supported the attacks with some progressive runs & passes. It was delighting to see Babrungas in offense, due to the players’ liveliness and good level dynamism.

Best potential player in this game:
Ugnius Avizovas (FK Nevėžis), midfielder born 2006.
Ugnius (about whom you can read a more detailed ScoutMania analysis here) definitely should be mentioned as the key player of FK Nevėžis. By his excellent mobility and versatility, he was able to appear in every crucial spots and areas of the pitch, in addition to take on different (playing) roles. Can be described as a midfielder all-rounder but in this clash, he often started to make pressure on the opposition players from the Number 9 position, in a 4-4-2 off-ball / defensive system. His great vision and creativity mixed to his fantastic passing & playmaking skills allowed him to be the engine of his team.
