Järvenpään keskuskenttä (Järvenpää, Finland). Home team JäPS secured a 2-0 win against SalPa in Matchday 19 of the Finnish second league (Ykkösliiga).

JäPS (Järvenpään Palloseura) on the home side, has collected seven points in its last five league games, and took the 6th position in the table before the kick-off; Salo based club SalPa (Salon Palloilijat) on the guests’ side, was on a less good run, as they won only against KäPa (Käpylän Pallo, by 1-0 at home) in its last five league clashes – so they definitely needed a good result to start catching up from the 10th position.

Both JäPS (led by coach Teemu Kankkunen) and SalPa (under the guidance of Ilkka Virtanen) started the game in 4-2-3-1 formation, and demonstrated similarities in their build up phases, as both sides frequently tried to slow down the tempo, in addition to operate with long-range passes made by the centre-backs (Taavi Arminen and Julius Salo for JäPS, team captain Miska Rautiola and Nigerian Michael John for SalPa). The excellent and convincing defensive play of JäPS hand in hand with a good goalkeeping performance (Besart Mustafa was the man on the line) allowed the team to keep its goal untouched, while SalPa needs to be praised for its endurance and attitude, which definitely can bring good results and more points later on.

JäPS took the lead in the game’s 55th minute, by the hit of substitution player Herkko Kuosa (1-0 / as you can see by the image below). In the 69th minute, they secured the win over SalPa, when Finnish-Costa Rican attacker of the team, Impton Söderlund also found the opposition net, by a tap-in (2-0).
