In the Right to Dream Park (home of FC Nordsjælland first team), in the first match of the U19 Ligaen 2025/26 season for both teams, FCN beat AaB with the result of 1-0 and secured their first 3 points in the league. Although FCN technical level was in average higher than their opponents, both teams offered interesting tactical solutions and showcased great talent in their ranks.

FCN, coached by Mathias Møller Thomsen in a 1-4-3-3 formation out of possession, showcased their ability to receive the ball in small pockets of space to progress through the thirds (as in the image below).

Aalborg, coached by Frederik Jørgensen also in a 1-4-3-3 formation, challenged the opposition high pressure which lacked intensity by often reversing the triangle in midfield (as you can see in the image below) to find space behind the opposition front three.

The first half was balanced with almost equal ball possession and with AaB having a big chance to get in front after 17 minutes with Bertram Skovgaard. The first and only goal of the match came instead after 5 minutes (22′) from a misunderstanding between AaB central defender and their goalkeeper which Hjalte Rasmussen took advantage of by getting the ball past the opposition goalkeeper with a soft touch.
An interesting solution was adopted by FCN on a free-kick when Rutkjær blocked the opposition defender to create space for Seim-Monsen to finish from close range (see image below). AaB goalkeeper Grønkjær (born 2007) delivered a great save to keep his team into play.

In the second half was Grønkjær again who stopped the FCN player Moukenga Kone from increasing the lead with a supersave. In the end of the match (88′) AaB had a good opportunity to even the result with Nygaard but this time was the FCN goalkeeper who ‘stood tall’ to make a decisive block for his team’s victory.
Here the player who stood out in this match:
Villads Rutkjær (FCN), centre-back born 2008.
Tall central defender with good vision and passing range. He can find his team mates with precise passes over long distances and can also play the ball between the lines with well-disguised ‘reverse passes’. Able to slow down his opponents and to prevent / block shots. Disciplined and focused in preventive marking while his team attacks. Strong in aerial duels, he won his personal battle with the opposition striker, physically strong target player Skovgaard.
Villads is a modern centre-back with huge potential to progress into a big Club in the Top 5 Leagues. Italy and Germany would be the most suitable countries to develop his already advanced skillset.
To FOLLOW also FCN right-back Victor Gustafsen (2007) and striker Markus Seim-Monsen (2007); and AaB goalkeeper Bertil Grønkjær (2007) and right winger William Thomsen (2008).
