In the vibrant atmosphere of the Fredrikstad Stadion, the home team defeated Strømsgodset (10th defeat in a row) with the final result of 3-2. The away team did not lose their fighting spirit until the final whistle and showcased many talented young players in their ranks.
Frederikstad, coached by Andreas Hagen in a 1-3-5-2 formation, had their defensive midfielder Leonard Owusu (with a past in FK Partizan Belgrade) ‘sitting’ in front of their back three in possession directing the play. They used the half-spaces to get the ball behind the opposition midfield line and create scoring opportunities (as in the image below where their striker Henrik Skogvold receives the ball between the lines before turning and shooting from outside the penalty box).

Out of possession they set up in a dynamic and compact 1-5-3-2 low block (see image below) with a man-oriented approach from their defenders and with Owusu ready to push onto the opposition central midfielder to close the space behind the two Frederikstad strikers.

Their right wing-back Daniel Eid delivered long throw-ins to put pressure on the opposition defense and the Estonian midfielder Rocco Shein (who previously played for FC Flora) kicked well-paced crosses from corners which led to their first two goals (own goal & Sørløkk).
Strømsgodset, coached by Dag-Eilev Fagermo in a 1-4-3-3 formation, kept their wingers high and wide in possession creating danger especially from their left side by Gustav Wikheim (previously played for FC Midtjylland and FC Nordsjaelland) who run in behind or combined with the closest midfielder, the talented 2006 born Fredrik Ardraa to break through the opposition defensive line. A weapon for them offensively was their fast counterattacks, as in the first goal scored when Wikheim assisted their other young midfielder born in 2004 Johan Bakke (ex Molde).

The changes made in the 2nd half had an immediate impact on the result with Ampofo and Krasniqi heavily involved in the second goal scored by Strømsgodset, which led to the temporary draw (74′).
Fredrikstad reestablished the lead (3-2) with an outstanding positional attack from their right side, once again using the half-space to progress and a precise ‘cut-back’ from Øhlenschlæger (ex Vendsyssel) to Holten (ex Esbjerg) who finished with precision in the far post by using two touches (see image below).
