UEFA Conference League Qualifiers – KÍ Klaksvík (Faroe Islands) vs FK Radnički 1923 (Serbia)

Við Djúpumýrar (Klaksvík, Faroe Islands). After a goalless draw in the 2025/26 UEFA Conference League Second qualifying round 1st leg, Faroese team KÍ Klaksvík won over Serbian FK Radnički 1923 by the score of 1-0 – and qualified to the next round.

Home team KÍ Klaksvík (playing in blue-white) defeated Finnish club SJK Seinäjoki with the aggregate score of 4-1 in the First qualifying round (by winning both legs), while their opponents, the Kragujevac based Serbian team FK Radnički 1923 (playing in full red) has joined the 2025/26 UEFA Conference League in this round. This is the second appearance of the guests in the competition, as they had lost in a two-legged clash against Montenegrin FK Mornar in the previous campaign (2024/25), also in the Second qualifying round.

KÍ Klaksvík, under the guidance of its Swedish coach Magnus Powell, started the game in 3-5-2 formation, which was often a 5-4-1 shape when they had to defend. They were practicing increased intensity and high level pressing on the opposition defense, even from the early minutes. The long throw-ins of Árni Frederiksberg (who played as central midfielder) served the offense from both sides, and from various distances and spots. Disciplined play, with physically solid and hard challenges were demonstrated in all crucial areas.

FK Radnički 1923, led by its Bosnian coach Feđa Dudić, opted for a 4-1-4-1 formation, with the quite tall Miloš Ristić in the Number 6 position/role, and with the physically strong Nigerian-Croatian Target man Stephen Chinedu as alone striker. As on the opposition team’s side, their front lines at pressing were also high, starting from the kick-off. They put a lot of emphasis on the hard and aggressive physical contacts and challenges, to make the build-up phase difficult for the opponents. Sending substitution wingers Bogdan Mirčetić (RW) and Guadeloupean-French Kilian Bevis (LW) to the pitch to increase the offense turned to be good managerial decision.

The only (and decisive) goal of the two-legged clash came up in the 39th minute, by the brilliant header of KÍ Klaksvík striker Páll Klettskarð; Árni Frederiksberg was the one who delivered the assist by his corner kick (1-0).

In the 2025/26 UEFA Conference League Third qualifying round, KÍ Klaksvík will face Belarusian FC Neman Grodno. The first leg will be played on 5 Aug 2025, in Faroe Islands.
