Eliteserien (Norway) – Kristiansund BK vs FK Bodø/Glimt

After the historical achievement of reaching the semi-final of the NM Cupen (National Cup) for the first time ever, Kristiansund hosted the four-times champions Bodø/Glimt, which last season reached the semi-final of the UEFA Europa League. In a match where the away team had many chances to score, Kristiansund tactical organization and resilience paid off in the last seconds of the game when they found the decisive goal which gave them an important point.

Both teams started the match in a 4-3-3 formation in possession, with Bodø/Glimt mainly on the ball and Kristiansund defending in a compact and well-drilled low block (5-4-1), ready to counterattack. Kristiansund striker Isah screened the opposition playmaker Patrick Berg while the two 8’s Ødegård and Alte pressed the centre-backs in a ‘8 pressure’ (see image below).

Kristiansund, coached by Amund Skiri, challenged Bodø’s defensive line mainly with its speedy striker Isah who attacked the back space to receive long passes and through balls (see image below).

Bodø/Glimt, coached by Kjetil Knutsen (at the helm of the team since 2018), exploited the space between Kristiansund’s young right-back Haugen (who replaced the injured Hoffmann) and centre-back Olsen by making their way into the opposition penalty box by using fast 1-2 and 3rd man combinations (see image below) which led to big chances in the 2nd half.
