Eliteserien (Norway) – HamKam vs Brann

On the 5th of July 2025 Hamkam invited Brann to a match in the Norwegian Eliteserien.

Brann one of the leading contenders for the championship lined up in their common 4-3-3 with their usual free flowing, creative style and HamKam battling promotion lined up with a back 3, sat back and played to the strengths of Moses Mawa. Quick and fast on the counters and profiting off his battles with the central defenders of Brann.

This was the common match picture, Brann with close central CB’s, wide full backs and wingers in the half-space. HamKam sitting back and ready to counter.

Brann was not afraid of playing between the lines in small spaces, combination play and creative expressions.

Also lastly a picture of the generally impressive Felix Horn Myhre with a backheel croqueta between two players and into space.

HamKam was very well drilled defensively and fast and precise in offensive counters. Not exceptional for individual quality but as a unit and playing to individual key strengths they worked very well. The team has shown clear progression in offensive qualities compared to last season despite the absence of key players. It has not yet shown on the table with the points, but you can hope for them that it will with time.

Players who stood out in this match:

Eivind Helland Fauske (Brann), centre-back born 2005.

Physically imposing, good ball control, good understanding of match tempo and of passing patterns, directs and guides teammates. Has grown tremendously from the fall season and appears ready for a jump to higher level.

Felix Horn Myhre (Brann), central midfield born 1999.

The central midfield controller was exceptional as usual. High game IQ, unselfish on and off the ball, well-rounded technically and physically and appears 2-3 levels above the rest of the players on the pitch in thought and action both in small and big spaces. Happened to score the equalizing goal today, which is not a usual part of his game. He is definitely ready for the jump to a significantly higher level, and whichever team in the sub-top teams in Europa gets him might be in for a pleasant surprise.

Brynjar Ingi Bjarnason (HamKam), centre-back born 1999.

Good reading and predictor of play, tall, strong, fast, physically imposing, good in defensive 1v1s, fast and strong. Committed a clumsy penalty kick due to over-eagerness but that doesn’t take away from his very impressive performance.

Moses Mawa (HamKam), striker born 1996.

Physically imposing, aggressive and direct. Very good strong runs in behind and decent hold up play. Must have been a nightmare to face. Can improve on decision making in the final third, but the sheer volume of involvement and opportunity creation in the final third compensates for it at this level.
