Helsingborgs IF played a goalless but exciting draw in the opposition of Östersunds FK, in Matchday 11 of the Swedish Superettan season 2025 (0-0 the final result).

The match was very interesting as both teams have achieved significant milestones in the recent past. Helsingborgs IF, played its last season in the Swedish Allsvenskan (which is the highest tier in the country) back in 2022, but earlier won the competition five times (last time in 2011), and also should be highlighted that they participated in the 2012-13 UEFA Europa League group stage, in a quartet with Levante UD (Spain), Hannover 96 (Germany) and FC Twente (Netherlands) – reaching the 3rd place. Östersunds FK on the other side, spending its last season in the Allsvenskan in 2021, is most famous for winning the Svenska Cupen (Swedish Cup) back in 2017, in addition to the team’s successful 2017-18 UEFA Europa League campaign (under the current West Ham United head coach Graham Potter), when they have reached the Round of 32, where faced English giants Arsenal F.C. and achieved an eye-catching away win (1-2).

Helsingborgs IF in this match, led by coach Klebér Saarenpää, started in 4-4-2 formation. Their right chain was quite lively and effective; key figures on this flank, Wilhelm Loeper as right midfielder and Benjamin Örn as right-back, meant to be the difference in shaping the base of the offensive play. In Loeper’s case, in addition to his great technical abilities and dynamism, which were quite useful through the attacks, he was able to perform several promising attempts from various distances – so he definitely turned to be one of the crucial players on the pitch. Johan Brattberg, the extremely tall (200 cm) goalkeeper of the team, played an important role in keeping the opposition team goalless, by demonstrating several significant saves and blocks (for example in the 38th minute, when pushed Östersunds FK winger Nebiyou Perry‘s ball to the left post, and blocked the close-range shot of James Kirby immediately after it).
Östersunds FK, under the guidance of its coach Kiarash Livani, started the game in 4-2-3-1 shape, with team captain Albin Sporrong and Ahmed Bonnah in the “Number 6” positions. Their offensive line pushed high, when they were out of possession / started to practice pressing on the opposition defense (as trying to make surprise on them, with this tactical element). They strongly focused on collect points ‘at all costs’, managing the time to achieve that. Icelandic-Swedish goalkeeper Adam Ingi Benediktsson, as his ‘colleague’ on the other side, should be also mentioned for his very good (goalkeeping) performance. The whole team looked well-organized, and they were able to present some really good movements in combinations, through the attacks. Ahmed Bonnah (DM) and Simon Marklund (AM) turned to be the leading players of the team.
