Eliteserien (Norway) – Rosenborg BK vs KFUM-Kameratene Oslo

In the 9th round of the Eliteserien, Rosenborg hosted KFUM Oslo in the Lerkendal Stadion. In a even match with very few chances until Rosenborg took the lead on a penalty, KFUM managed to draw with ten minutes to go and could have achieved the win if it wasn’t for Mortensen’s decisive double block in the end of the match (1-1 the final result). A great performance and a goal scored by the youngest player on the pitch, Rosenborg’s talent Marius Broholm.

Rosenborg, coached by Alfred Johansson (ex FC Copenhagen U19 Manager) in a 1-4-3-3 formation showed good control on the ball with their midfield trio dictating the tempo of the match. In possession, their full-backs moved often into the half-spaces to create space for the wingers to receive out wide (as in the first image below) or to run into the back space from a more central position (as in the second image below).

KFUM, coached by Johannes Moesgaard in a 1-3-4-3 formation, adopted well-timed opposite movements in their front three to drag the opposition back four out of shape with their right winger Hickson often attacking the back space from an inside position when the ball was out wide and their striker Okeke showing to receive the ball into feet (as by image below).

Interesting strategy was used by KFUM on their offensive direct free-kicks by creating an extra wall of 4 players behind or in front of the opposition defensive wall to limit the goalkeeper vision.

Here the player who stood out in this match:

Marius Broholm (RBK), right winger born 2004.

Inverted winger (left footed) with great close control and vision. Capable of beating his opponents in 1v1 situations by moving the ball just before the defenders commit, he showed good speed with the ball in the first meters and delivered precise crosses or passes over the defensive line. He scored the penalty for his team by chipping the ball down the center of the goal showing that he can perform under pressure and was creative and unpredictable in his solutions when facing his opponents 1v1.

Marius possesses a massive potential due to his high level technique and his mental strength. He can be a good fit for a top 6 team in the Eredivisie in the short term and develop into even higher profile for the Top 5 Leagues (preferably Serie A or La Liga).
