Åråsen Stadion (Lillestrøm, Norway). Home side Lillestrøm SK (who played in Norway’s highest tier Eliteserien in the previous season) defeated Kongsvinger IL by the score of 2-0, which keeps them at the top of the table.

Lillestrøm SK, despite achieving only a 1-1 draw at the home stadium of Skeid Fotball in the previous round (Matchday 6), was waiting for this clash still from the top of the league table. Guest team Kongsvinger IL on the other side, had lost its last encounter against Odds BK (1-3), so it was no question they wanted to fight back with a great result.
The home team Lillestrøm SK, coached by Hans Erik Ødegaard (father of Arsenal and Norway midfielder Martin Ødegaard), started this game in 4-3-3 formation, which was often changed to a 4-4-2 shape, when they were out of possession. They demonstrated a composed and calm play in all phases, with waiting for the right opportunities and to avoid the hasted play and to lose the possession unnecessarily. The defense (led by team captain, former Toulouse FC and FC København player Ruben Gabrielsen) was well-organized and had the ability to perform several crucial blocks. Experienced striker Thomas Lehne Olsen should be also highlighted by his two goals scored, as well as by his great offensive play and presence.
Kongsvinger IL, under the guidance of its young Swedish coach Johan Vennberg, also opted for a 4-3-3 formation. It was quite delighting to see how their players (mainly from the offensive section) were able to put the pressure onto the opposition defenders, as well as sometimes onto LSK’s goalkeeper Mads Hedenstad – even at early stages of the match. Despite they knew that this encounter against the current leaders of the competition will be fairly tough, they kept the composure, and a conscious, calm play was presented through the build-up phase. Praise can be given to the coach, for the decision of sending Eric Taylor (CM) and Mathias Gjerstrøm (DM) to the pitch after the break, as they definitely brought new pulse to the teamplay.

Lillestrøm SK secured its win over Kongsvinger IL by two goals scored within two minutes, which came up in the 41st and 43rd minutes, by Thomas Lehne Olsen (who had to leave the pitch in the second half, due to a possible injury).
In Matchday 8, Lillestrøm SK will play against Mjøndalen IF away, while Kongsvinger IL will host its forthcoming home clash vs Lyn 1896 FK.
