Jernvallen (Sandviken, Sweden). Last Superettan season’s 6th placed team Sandvikens IF hosted its 2025 opening league clash against Kalmar FF, who played in Allsvenskan in the previous year. The game ended with a goalless but thrilling draw (0-0).

Sandvikens IF, under its coach Eldar Abdulic, started the game in 3-5-2 formation, but other different shapes and systems were also visible through the ninety minutes; as the pressure was elevated from the opposition side, the basic formation in the second part of the game involved a 4-defender line, to repel the offensive play of Kalmar FF, with higher efficiency. In the first half of the encounter, significant focus was put on to ball possession play; midfielder Daniel Söderberg often moved back to depths, to make connection between the defensive line and the midfield.
Kalmar FF, with big ambitions for Superettan 2025, led by Finnish coach Toni Koskela, opted for a 4-2-3-1 formation in the beginning. For the second half, due to tactical substitution (as sending Norwegian centre-back Lars Sætra to the pitch), the basic shape was changed to a 3-defender formation, where the two full-backs/wing-backs (Sivert Øverby on the left side and Arash Motaraghebjafarpour on the right flank) were moved one row up, to offer more quality support through the offense. Very good offensive awareness and combinations were typical of the teamplay (especially in the second half); Robert Gojani should be highlighted, as the ‘engine’ of the midfield, with showcasing his creative playmaker abilities and high work rate.
