Olympia (Helsingborg, Sweden). Helsingborgs IF faced Västerås SK in Matchday 4 of the Swedish second tier (Superettan) season 2025; the thrilling clash ended with a 2-0 win for the home team HIF.

Both Helsingborgs IF and the guests Västerås SK arrived to this competitive game with all the three points collected in the previous round; HIF achieved an important away success against Örebro SK (0-2) in Matchday 3, while VSK on the other side, who participated in the competition of Sweden’s highest tier (Allsvenskan) in last season, secured its win against newly promoted team Falkenbergs FF (1-0), in the Hitachi Energy Arena (the home of Västerås SK).

Helsingborgs IF, led by its coach Klebér Saarenpää, started the game in 4-4-2 (double 6) formation. The defenders frequently supported the offense, even the two centre-backs (team captain Wilhelm Nilsson and Danish-Serbian Marcus Gudmann). After being down to 10 men in the 36th minute (red card), HIF still demonstrated a well-organized defensive play, repelling the opposition offense in a 5-3-1 system.
Västerås SK, under the guidance of coach Kalle Karlsson, opted for 3-4-3 formation at the start, which was a 3-5-2 reminiscent shape in the second half, with strikers Aaron Bibout and the extremely tall (202 cm) Jabir Abdihakim Ali up front. Promising and conscious offensive movements were typical of VSK’s play in both halves, with creating several dangerous opportunities from various spots. The long throw-ins of Pedro Ribeiro (from the middle of the second half) also turned to be a serious threat.
The game’s first goal came up in early period (7th minute), when HIF right midfielder / right winger Wilhelm Loeper made an accurate mid-high pass to Adrian Svanbäck, who found the net by his right-footed shot (1-0). In the second part of the game, already playing with 10 men, a corner of Loeper was sent to the middle, substitution player (and new team captain) Jon Birkfeldt passed the ball by his head towards Marcus Gudmann – whose hit set up the final score (2-0).
