KFUM Arena (Oslo, Norway). Lyn 1896 FK played against Stabæk Fotball in Matchday 2 of the 1. divisjon season 2025, which encounter ended with a one goal win for the “De Blaa” (0-1).

In the previous 1. divisjon season (2024), Lyn 1896 FK finished in the 5th place but nevertheless had the opportunity to reach the highest level (Eliteserien) for the next season, through the promotion play-offs; Stabæk Fotball ended last year’s competition in the 7th position, two points behind Kongsvinger IL – and the promotion play-off place.

Lyn 1896 FK started the new league season with a massive 0-3 away win against Ranheim Fotball, while Stabæk Fotball‘s opening game at its home stadium finished with a 1-1 draw, in the opposition of newly promoted team IL Hødd.

Both Lyn FK 1896 (under the guidance of Jan Halvor Halvorsen) and Stabæk Fotball (led by its Swedish coach Jörgen Wålemark) started and played in 4-3-3 formation, which was 4-5-1 shape in defending / out of possession, for both sides (as we can see by the two images below).

Lyn 1896 FK‘s strong focus was on to stay on feet at the physical challenges, hand in hand with demonstrating significant pressure resilience and hard tackles in the midfield area; Stabæk Fotball on the other side, was able to take the advantages of its wing-play and the fast and technical wingers’ abilities, besides of building up the play quickly.

The game’s only one goal came up in the 75th minute, when Stabæk Fotball substitution striker Magnus Lankhof Dahlby hit the net by his header, after a corner was taken by team captain Nicolai Næss (0-1).

Lyn 1896 FK will be the opposition team of fifth tier side Råde IL in the NM Cupen (Norwegian Football Cup) First round, while Stabæk Fotball will have faceoff in this competition against third level club Notodden FK.
