Strong start from FC Midtjylland which went two goals in front after ten minutes in the match. Vejle reduced the distance on a penalty in the start of the second half and they had after several chances to score to even the result (2-1 the final result). Great talents in both teams, FCM which is leading the U19 Ligaen table and VB which is currently ranking 6th.
Interesting approaches from both teams on their defensive goal-kicks. Both teams had success in regaining possession by high pressing.
Midtjylland, coached by Niclas Hougaard in a 1-4-3-3 formation, forced the play towards the opposition left side on goal-kicks to force mistakes and regain the ball in the final third. This allowed them to score the first goal after three minutes from the kick-off (see image below).

Vejle, coached by Mads Nissen also in a 1-4-3-3 formation, positioned both wingers at the edge of the box ready to press the opposition centre-backs and their striker in a lower position screening the opponents’ defensive midfielder (see image below).

FCM demonstrated good occupation of the space both in width and depth and manipulated the opposition defensive shape by interchanging positions (as you can see in the image below where the right winger Tornvig drops to attract the opposition centre-back to create space for the striker Pimpong).

Vejle, created dangerous attacks in the second half (both in open and set play) with inswinging crosses and by overloading the opposition centre-backs (image below). This led them to three big chances where they headed the ball from close range, one ending off target and two were stopped by the opposition goalkeeper Selin double supersaves.
