In late September, Haugesund invited a well performing Brann side to their home stadium, Haugesund Stadion.
A ball-playing, confident and quick Brann played amazing football and proved a tough challenge for the hard fighting Haugesund.
The game was similar to powerplay with Brann attacking and Haugesund defending in a deep block. Brann was a confident team in ball playing and it was mainly due to the 3 brilliant ball players in the middle. At occasion they were playing on few touches, confidently in tight spaces and even the occasional heel and toe in Brazilian fashion.
Both teams lined up in a 4-3-3. Haugesund with a midfield pivot of 2 defensive midfielders with the pairing of the intelligent and mobile Bruno Leite who was constantly communicating, scanning, shuffling, adjusting and reading play ahead of time, and that was just his defensive side of play! At times he showed flashes of great drive and dribbling deep from midfield. Next to him in Haugesund’s deep pivot was the physically imposing Parfait Bizoza. Those 2 played a defensive pivot and in front of them was a hard-working Julius Eskesen who unfortunately did not experience much success going forward but added to the steel and hard work that was needed against Brann’s talented midfield 3.

(A situation of the common match picture, with especially the Brann Wingers more tucked in than they usually do.)
Brann played an amazing style of football. Mostly aided by the technically capable and tactically fluid midfield 3. Having an amazing ball player as Emil Kornvig wearing the 10 as the deepest lying midfielder attests to the skill of the two 8’s (Myhre and Kartum) playing ahead of him, but they had no issues interchanging positions and finding pockets of space whenever needed. When you have intelligent, confident ball players you can afford to give them a degree of freedom.

(An example of samba play in small areas at times from Brann).
At right back they had young and impressive Eivin Helland Fauske playing only his 4th full match for the team at the time.
Best potential players:
Felix Horn Myhre (Brann), midfielder born 1999.
Myhre is a very intelligent, cerebral player who works very well between lines and is constantly moving. He’s good on the turn can drive with the ball and makes good decisions while driving forward. That also means he has good close control and manipulates small spaces well. Good dribbler who dances and skips past players at times. Confident ball player with decent line breaking passes as well.
He’s very well rounded and strikes me as a late bloomer with a very diverse skillset and a hardworking mentality. He could benefit from a switch to a significantly higher level, and whoever gets him could be in a for a cheap and pleasant surprise.
Eivin Helland Fauske (Brann), centre-back born 2005.
A young central defender who’s also very able at playing right back. Reminiscent of Dan Burn from Newcastle. Big, tall build with a good technique. Good in defensive 1v1s on the ground and in the air. Confident going forward despite his build and even dribbles past players in the offensive side of the game. And it’s close control dribbles not lung lunges past opposition. Also shows his defensive side of the game on a lot of occasions and is sometimes last recovering defender behind his Centre backs. Very promising, but complex player. His future manager is going to have a hard time deciding whether he’s most adept at right back or center back.
Sander Håvik Innvær (Haugesund), winger born 2004.
Best performing offensive player on a highly defensive Haugesund side. But he also showed signs of being able to work hard in the boring side of the game. He covered well for his RB when they managed to make it forward and the RB went into overlaps.
Innvær showed very good close control and technique in the offensive side of the game.
Tactically adept, hardworking and good close control and technique in a very difficult match.
To FOLLOW also:
Aune Heggebø (Brann), striker born 2001.
A striker on the smaller side but finds a way to bully defenders in his hold up. Strong with a low center of gravity, and physically dominant. Very good hold up and link up play, and intelligently timed deep runs. A fighter whose also at times a very good defender from the front. Had slight issues when he had his front towards opposition defenders, and slower decision making at times during the match.
Emil Kornvig (Brann), central midfielder born 2000.
Deep lying midfielder, with a varied and well-rounded skill set. He interchanged with the 2 other good ball players in Brann’s midfield, but his starting was furthest deep. Confident ball player, who could also see a good through ball. Good tackler too. Very interesting player.
