On a sunny day in Løjt, SønderjyskE and OB met each other for their first friendly match of the year and ‘mirrored’ each other in a 4-4-2 (diamond) formation. OB was the dominant team and had the biggest chances in the match (2-3 the final result).
SønderjyskE coached by Thomas Nørgaard occupied the wide channels with their full-back in the build up and tried to play around the opposition defensive block to progress through the thirds. When their full-back received the ball in wide areas their outside midfielders was ‘triggered’ to run through the opposition defensive line from deep.

OB coached by Søren Krogh forced the play out and pressed with high intensity in wide areas to regain the ball successfully in the opposition half (as in the image below).

Best potential players?
Mohamed Cherif Haidara (SønderjyskE), central midfielder born 2006.
Cherif is a tall left footed midfielder with great physical attributes. Good ball control under pressure and spatial awareness. Precise in long passes. Strong in tackles and physical duels.
Cherif progression from playing in 3rd division with Ishøj before the last summer to playing for SønderjyskE in Superliga was impressive. His development does not seem to stop, therefore I see further progression in his career. His physical potential and visible improvements in a short period make me conclude that he could join a Club in the ‘top 5 European leagues’ within the next two years.
Julius Berthel Askou (OB), centre-back born 2006.
Julius had a solid performance defensively. He used his body well in his physical duels and showed good strength. He intercepted the opposition long passes in the back space with well-timed headers and directed the ball towards his team mates to retain possession. Comfortable in using both feet to pass the ball and good weight in his passes.
Check out this previous article from the OB U19 match vs AaB to read my conclusions on Julius.
William Martin (OB), offensive midfielder born 2007.
William positioning to receive the ball unmarked and decision-making was outstanding and shows a maturity which is rare to see from a player of his age. High level passing and receiving skills, able to turn into space with his first touch. He supported the attack by running into the box without the ball and took responsibility by shooting from outside the box hitting the bar with a dangerous trajectory.
William is collecting minutes regularly in 1st division. His ability to adapt to the challenges is facing and the wide range of tools he possesses will allow him to compete for a starting eleven spot in Superliga next year. As a modern midfielder he has great potential to move to a even bigger league (Serie A?) within the next three years.
To FOLLOW also OB right-back Magnus Andersen (2006) and striker Hjalte Rasmussen (2007).
