U19 Eliitliiga Esiliiga (Estonia) – Tartu JK Tammeka II vs Nõmme Kalju FC

The exciting season ending clash for both teams brought six goals (1-5). Sepa Jalgpallikeskus (Tartu, Estonia) was the venue where Tartu JK Tammeka II and Nõmme Kalju FC had a tough fight in addition to several promising and outstanding individual performances.

Club Tartu JK Tammeka had two teams in the U19 Eliitliiga Esiliiga in season 2024; Tartu JK Tammeka II (as their second team in the competition) was led by coach Jaano Poomre. A 4-3-3 ‘attacking’ reminiscent shape was the chosen one for this game; despite of conceding in the early minutes, they were able to equalize the standing quickly – thanks to the good combination of Herko Sunts and Riko Tobreluts in a tight area (as we can see below).

As they knew that their opponents will try to dominate and push heavily, the focus was on keeping the concentration and taking the advantages of the opposing players’ personal mistakes – especially at their defensive line, with avoiding to chase them or the ball unnecessarily.

(After gaining the possession from the away team’s last man, a 1v1 situation against the goalkeeper was created.)

Nõmme Kalju FC, under the guidance of coach Tarmo Neemelo, started the game in 4-2-3-1 formation. The team’s offensive play and the way how it was built up were delighting to see; the two fast wingers on both flanks (Vlad Sutorin on the left and Aleksandr Vassiljev on the right) took the advantages of the big empty areas ahead to run to the goal, even by going through the opposing defenders with forcing them to engage in 1v1 situations (as by images below).

This kind of high pressing / high offensive play fits the players perfectly and in addition to the win, the tactic and the mentality allowed them to present some outstanding individual performances too.

Best potential players can be highlighted from both sides:

Markus Ivandi (Tartu JK Tammeka II), central/defensive midfielder born in 2008.

Despite the fact that there were many players older than him, Markus was the one who was wearing the captain’s armband. Creative and mature type midfielder with special ball possessing and playmaking abilities; was not afraid even while he was involved into physical challenges nor when he had to use his physique and strength to stay on feet. Skillful enough on the ball, able to make quick and accurate one-touch passes even inside tight areas. Has good character with fairly likeable mentality and attitude, which are in pairs with his confidence and initiative. He is a potential leader type.

Aleksandr Vassiljev (Nõmme Kalju FC), right winger born in 2007.

Aleksandr was playing as right winger (as an inverted one because of his preferred foot is the ‘left’), in which position is a perfect match for his abilities. He is a tall player who has long legs; quite effective in the offensive 1v1 situations moreover one of his main strength is dribbling. A tenacious and dynamic player with strong mental attributes; prefers to make long shots if he has the opportunities to do (performed some especially dangerous and promising left-footed curved shots). Set piece specialist player (corners and free-kicks): made three assists in this game – two from taking corners.

Tregor Lunts (Nõmme Kalju FC), centre-back born in 2006.

Tregor came on from the bench after the break – but the 2nd half was enough for him to score two goals (1-3, 1-4), both by great headers, after corners were taken. Played as left centre-back (LCB), was absolutely brave when he had to move off this position or to play the ball. Acted like the ‘leader of defense’: talked to his teammates and often tried to control or to give instructions to them. Has excellent physique; was very good when started following his opponent’s motion as well as marking him. Demonstrated good pace and acceleration off the ball, can manage his body quite easily. In addition to his outstanding performance, showed especially high potential.

To FOLLOW also Tartu JK Tammeka II left winger Ron-Arthur Vahing (2007); and Nõmme Kalju FC striker Gert Parbo (2006) and left winger Vlad Sutorin (2007).
