U19 Ligaen (Denmark) – Vejle BK vs AGF

In an equal match won by AGF after a long series of penalties (2-2 the result at the end of the regular time) both teams showcased interesting tactical solutions both on and off the ball and great talent!

Vejle coached by Niclas Hougaard Hansen in a 4-4-2 formation was very ‘fluid’ in possession. Their interchanges of positions challenged AGF man-marking approach and led to both goals scored (see below AGF back 5 positioning in the first goal scored by Vejle).

AGF coached by Niki Zimling in a 3-5-2 formation (5-3-2 out of possession) was successful in their pressure when Vejle dropped their midfielders beside their centre-backs, and regained possession high up the pitch to create dangerous counterattacks (see image below).

AGF wins the match of potential players 1-3!

Anton Klaster (VB), centre-back born 2007.

Anton is a tall defender strong in aerial and ground duels. His body structure makes him very dominant when using his shoulders to get his opponents off balance. Good positioning both when defending long balls and crosses and effectiveness in clearing the ball.

Anton physical readiness suggests that he can soon become an option for Vejle first team and hopefully get some playing time before this current season ends.

Mark Ian Steffensen (AGF), right wing-back born 2008.

Mark was the biggest talent in the game in my opinion! He is fast and agile and can dribble with the ball at high pace but also keep its control under pressure by using body feints. His timing of support when exploiting the space without the ball was outstanding and brought him to score the first goal with a precise shot across goal.

Mark is a great prospect for the future of AGF! He perfectly fits their style of play and plays at U19 level showing excellent mental strength despite being one of the youngest players on the pitch. A smooth transition to the first team after next summer will help him competing for a spot as a regular starter in the next two years.

Ekemini Ime (AGF), defensive midfielder born 2006.

Ekemini is a tall and robust defensive midfielder, excellent in ball recoveries and duels. On the ball he received the ball from the defenders with good awareness and made good decisions in order to retain possession or launch dangerous attacks with precise long passes.

Ekemini is ready for senior football. He would greatly benefit from a loan in 1st or 2nd division in the second part of this season to speed up his development and increase his chances to get into the first team squad.

Glad Egbedi (AGF), striker born 2008.

Glad is a dynamic striker with great physical attributes. He made a lot of runs in the back space and he protected the ball well using his body and his strength to set the ball for his supporting team mates. In the first goal scored by his team he showed all his power by screening the ball from three defenders.

One more season at U19 level can help him improving his movements in the penalty box and gain more confidence by scoring more regularly.

To FOLLOW also Vejle central midfielder Eman Subasic (2008) and striker Rasmus Koch (2007); and AGF offensive midfielder Frej Elkjaer (2007).
