U17 Ligaen (Denmark) – OB vs FC Nordsjælland

In a match where the two teams faced each other in the same formation (4-3-3), FC Nordsjælland came out as a winner (1-3 the final result) by imposing their playing style and by scoring two high level goals with quick ball progression through the thirds.

OB coached by Andreas Jørgensen started the match with a good pressing intensity. Their compact and well coordinated defensive block (see image below) gave them success in regaining the ball in the opposition half.

FCN coached by Anders Vang adopted an interesting solution in the build up by using an asymmetrical shape. Their left-back Noah Aagaard Okyere pushed up on the left side while their right-back Sebastian Birkegård Jørgensen took up a lower position (see image below). This allowed their right winger Tjalfe Holm Svendsen to stay wide and the opposite flank their Noah Ayorinde moved inside between the lines.

FCN wins also the match of potential players!

Elias Møller Rasmussen (OB), left-back born in 2009.

Elias was the best potential player in his team. He showed great desire, bravery and determination and top physical attributes (strength & endurance). Good playmaking skills and support runs, he had a scoring opportunity in the second half when his shot on target across goal was denied by Søndenbroe. Well positioned mostly to intercept the opposition forward passes and fast in recovering the ball in defensive transitions.

Elias is a key player in his team although one year younger than most of his team mates. Being challenged already at U19 level during this season can help him developing in his 1v1 defensive duels. I would not be surprised if he would be part of the first team squad within the next three years.

Andreas Søndenbroe (FCN), goalkeeper born 2008.

Andreas is a tall left footed goalkeeper with outstanding distributions. He started the third goal with a fantastic progressive pass and he set his team mates with accurate long passes showing an excellent range of passing. Despite his size he was very good in coming off the line to protect the space behind his defenders.

Andreas can already compete at U19 level and has all attributes to become the next FCN first team goalkeeper.

Noah Aagaard Okyere (FCN), left-back born 2009.

Noah is technically skilled left-back with great ball control, passing and agility. Noah was very comfortable under pressure, used 1-2 combinations to isolate his opponents and played precise angled passes inside. When in the offensive third he showed good crossing, especially in low crosses.

Noah is an offensive minded full-back who ‘fits’ perfectly in the FCN playing style. One more season at U17 level can let him gain more confidence and help him becoming more dominant.

Leonel Eklund (FCN), striker born 2009.

Leonel is a left footed striker with good dynamism and great output. In this match he scored the first goal and made an assist in the third goal. In the first goal he attacked the near post for a tap-in. In the third he made a well-timed run in the back space before squaring the ball for his team mates to score in the empty goal. Also in the 2nd goal scored by FCN he showed his quality in dropping to receive the ball into feet and set up his team mates with precise short passes.

Leonel can be very dominant in this league and score many goals in the second half of this season. From next summer he would greatly benefit by being included in the U19 squad and being exposed to first team training.

Noah Ayorinde (FCN), offensive winger born 2008.

Noah is a left footed winger with great speed and agility. He can accelerate with the ball to beat his opponents with no effort. He showed good receiving skills and ball control in tight areas. Good quality in early crosses and through passes.

He looked too easy at times for Noah. Competing against older players can give him the right conditions to improve his pressing and decision-making. For sure his talent is big and will show even more with the right challenge.

To FOLLOW also OB midfielders Yehya Abou-Lebde (2008) and Jonathan Friis (2009) and striker Delphen Irenge (2008); and FCN centre-back Oskar Wørts (2008), midfielder Filip Moon Petersen (2008).
