Pirma Lyga (Lithuania) – FK Nevėžis vs FC Hegelmann B

As football in Lithuania came to its end in November, it was predictable that both teams will try to finish the season with a good result. No chances for promotion nor for relegation – just natural play. FK Nevėžis from the home side closed the clash already in the first half (4-0), despite of guest team FC Hegelmann B performance has improved a lot for the second part of the game.

FK Nevėžis, led by coach Algirdas Surgautas, started the game in 4-2-3-1 formation. As having better place in the league table, they tried to force their dominance on the away team already at the beginning of the game. Taking the advantages of the FC Hegelmann players’ mistakes committed on their half played an important role in shaping the offense; as example, by the images below, you can see, after an interception in the midfield zone made by Japanese player Takumu Aoyama, striker Yevgeniy Mogil moved some steps back to collect the ball while Francis Yaghr started to run to the right – and the offense ended with his dangerous right-footed shot.

Leading conscious attacks on the side of building up quality play was typical of FK Nevėžis, during the entire game.

FC Hegelmann B (as secondary team of A Lyga club FC Hegelmann), under talented young coach Tadas Vilkevičius, started the game in a 3-4-1-2 / 3-5-2 formation. Both flanks were active at the offense while the players in the middle had to face solid physical activities in terms of keeping or gaining the possession. One of the team’s main strengths was shown: its character. In the break, they refreshed the sections and put everything in order inside the heads – so we could see a different away team. Important changes were, that the team thenceforth was able to cause confusion in the defense of FK Nevėžis and could find the empty areas in easier way (as you can see below).

With the performance produced by FC Hegelmann B in the second half, both teams seemed quite equal in play.

The clash of the best potential players: 1-0 !

Ugnius Avizovas (FK Nevėžis), winger/midfielder born in 2006.

Ugnius was simply faultless in this game. Showed his bravery and confidence several times; giving instructions for his (even experienced) teammates was often visible. Creative enough with possessing promising playmaker attributes. Always found the right areas where he had move to, with making advantageous positions for himself. Frequently was on to scan the pitch; high level of awareness could be perceptible in his decisions and movements. Scoring the team’s third goal of the match is just an extra to his outstanding performance.

To FOLLOW also FK Nevėžis right-back Mantas Monkelis (2006); and FC Hegelmann B striker Domas Sinkevičius (2008), central midfielder Nojus Stelmokas (2008) and attacking midfielder Arnas Armalas (2007).

Other players (from older age groups) also can be highlighted; FK Nevėžis central midfielder Alexandros Spontas (Cypriot-Ukrainian, 2002) and defensive/central midfielder Francis Yaghr (Ghanaian, 2001) have the abilities to play even higher level in the near future.
