The clash between the 6th and the 7th placed teams in the Esiliiga (2nd tier) brought a lot of excitement in the Tallinn night despite the 0-0 final result. Both teams were already safe from the direct relegation – but they still needed to collect more points to be in a better position and to avoid the possible participation to the play-out.

FCI Levadia Tallinn’s U21 team, led by the Spanish coach Santi García, started the match with a 4-2-3-1 formation. They tried to dominate early in the game, which turned out well – their possession rate was 80% after the first 15 minutes. In the attacking phase, their right chain was slightly more active than their left side but both full-backs had a good offensive contributions. Also to mention, their ability to attack the back space with speed and quality after regaining possession (as we can see in the image below).

FC Elva, coached by the young but experienced manager Kaido Koppel (170 matches already in the Premium Liiga, 1st tier) played in a 4-3-3 formation. Despite the home team attempt to control the match by keeping possession of the ball, Elva adopted a high pressure strategy on them – already in the early minutes of the match.

The away team had also an important ‘weapon’ on set pieces to create chaos inside the opposition penalty box – these were the long throw-ins of Georg Lani.

The best potential players in my opinion are all from the home side:
Mohamed Ouertani (FCI Levadia U21), midfielder born in 2008.
Mohamed played as central midfielder, his main skills were keeping possession and regaining the ball. He showed good technique on the ball, used some creative solutions in the middle third but also higher up the pitch. Not afraid of the physical contacts, he handles the pressure well and shows strength in tackles.
Deniss Matrossov (FCI Levadia U21), midfielder born in 2008.
Deniss played beside his teammate Mohamed Ouertani in the first half of the match and managed to create an advantage for his team using his agility and speed. Finds solutions on the ball quite easily even when in tight areas and pressured by more opponents. He was active and aware and played with good ‘spirit’ – was delighting to see his great individual performance.
Fjodor Rodionov (FCI Levadia U21), winger born in 2007.
Played as offensive winger on the right side. Effective in his aerial duels and successful in his offensive 1v1s. Fjodor is a mobile player with an enjoyable offensive mentality and skills on the ball. Can make also important ball interceptions in the attacking half to start quick counterattacks. [He had to leave the pitch in the 55th minute because of injury]
To FOLLOW also FCI Levadia U21 striker Henri Käblik (2005) and right-back Jens Kaspar Pihkva (2006); and FC Elva right-back Erik Ilves (2006).
