An entertaining match with 8 goals (4-4 the score at the end of the regular time) and lots of chances between FCM and LBK. Lyngby dominated the 1st half closing it with a 0-2 lead. Midtjylland started the 2nd half strong scoring 4 goals before giving the advantage away in the last 10 minutes of the match.
Lyngby coached by Younes Pedersen adopted a 4-2-3-1 formation in possession. Effective their choice to drop with both central midfielders on goal-kicks to ‘attract’ the opponents and create space between the lines. Also to mention their forwards ability to run and play through the opposition defensive line which led to the first three goals scored.

Out of possession Lyngby switched to a 4-4-2 diamond to ‘match’ the opposition offensive structure (4-3-3) and had success in the 1st half by recovering the ball in their attacking half.

Midtjylland coached by Mathias Rahbek managed to beat the opposition first pressure in their 3rd goal scored by speeding up the play (1-2 touches) to find space centrally to progress and ‘drive’ at the opposition defensive line.

The match of ‘potential players’ also ends in a draw. 3 players for each team!
Hjalte Kropp (LBK), striker born in 2008.
Hjalte was our first pick! He showed great timing of movement and finishing skills in the first two goals scored. But also the ability to protect the ball when receiving back to goal and to set his team mates up with precise passes. This together with his strength and speed in the first meters make of him a well rounded number 9!
The road to the first team is shorter in Lyngby than in other Clubs and Hjalte demonstrated to have the characteristics and the potential to get there within the next couple of years.
Hjalte Froholdt (LBK), right-back born in 2008.
Another Hjalte in our list, his offensive contribution made a difference in the match. H. Froholdt was a constant threat for the opponents with his supporting runs and precise crosses. He beat his opponents 1v1 when under pressure to create superiority and did show also good passing skills when maintaining possession or progressing through the thirds. Defensively his physical structure and determination made him successful in almost every duel.
HF can pursue the same successful path that other Academy graduates have taken in recent time to conquer a spot in the starting eleven in his position. His timeline for it could be shorter than for his peers thanks to his physical readiness (click here to follow his development from the last season).
Ian Perez (LBK), offensive winger born in 2008.
Ian strengths are his offensive 1v1s and his speed with the ball. He had a ‘WOW moment’ when he cut inside with the ball and beat two opponents showing great dribbling technique before curving his shot towards the far top corner (hit the bar).
He would gain greatly by scoring goals regularly at U17 level while being exposed occasionally at U19 level. For Ian the ‘levels up’ are more in my opinion in the long-term than for any other player in this match.
Frederik Vestergaard (FCM), defensive midfielder born in 2009.
Frederik was a solid presence in midfield, showing strength and determination in his duels. He was also capable of link the play with good short passes and spatial awareness and got out of pressure showing great ball control. His resilience was proved all in the start of the 2nd half when he opened his team scoring account with a precise shot from outside the box. He was decisive in the fourth goal too when he dribble through the opposition defensive block with confidence.
Frederik is already a leader in his team and will be soon in need of a higher challenge to maximize his potential.
Lau Overgaard (FCM), centre-back born in 2009.
Lau best moments in this match were to be found in his defensive game. He demonstrated good game reading by dropping with good timing to head long passes played in the back space and was aggressive in his duels, especially when trying to stop his opponents from turning.
He lost the ball cheaply at times in the first half after regaining it. This one more season with the U17 will help him consolidating his already good basics (check our earlier article here) both on and off the ball.
James Alphinas (FCM), offensive winger born in 2008.
James speed is difficult to match. He is agile and unpredictable with the ball and created two big chances with a precise through pass and a cross. Fast in getting the ball out of his feet to shoot with good coordination. By improving his timing of movement he can become even more dominant in his offensive contribution.
James is physically ready for U19 football and has the potential to play in Superliga within 2 years.
To FOLLOW also Midtjylland midfielders Frederik Bunten Kjeldal & Benjamin Mujkanovic and offensive winger Viktor Elias Frisch Bastrup; and Lyngby centre-back Mikkel Vernon, offensive midfielder Noah Krucov and striker Oscar Wind.
