First match report about F.C. København, the team which beat Bayern Munich and Manchester United in the U19 Uefa Youth League!
The match did not start well for FCK which was 2-0 down after 39 mins after conceding on a corner and following a ball loss in own half. This did not stop the team led by Morten Bisgaard from chasing and achieving the 4th victory in a row after a great comeback (2-3 goal scored in the 85th minute).
Interesting positioning of the FCK players when attacking with the two wingers high and wide, the two nr 8’s very close to the striker ending up in a front line of 5 which occupied all the vertical channels; FBs (especially Blicher) tucked in taking up a ‘playmaking role’ (as in the image below).

This forced the Sønderjyske head coach Niklas Vincentz to adopt often a low block which brought good outcomes defensively until the first goal conceded on a direct free-kick in the 62nd minute of the game.
Best players in the match?!
Hunor Németh (F.C. København), offensive midfielder born in 2007 with both Danish and Hungarian citinzenship.
Hunor scored an amazing goal with a precise and powerful shot from a direct free-kick by lifting the ball over the opposition wall. He showed great control of the ball under pressure and spatial awareness and could pass the ball with accuracy over both short and long distances. His vision helped him setting up his team attacks and his quality in receiving and dribbling was important in his team maintaning possession for longer periods than their opponents.
Definitely a first team prospect over the next 1-2 years considering the senior team low average age and the opportunities been given in recent times by FCK both at national and international level.
William Glindtvad (F.C. København), centre-back born in 2006.
Great stature and dominance in both ground and aerial duels. Good positioning defensively, able to intercept dangerous forward passes and long balls. Strong in heading and composed in 1v1 situations. A modern type of defender who can move relatively fast considering his size and who imposed himself in the game showing confidence and bravery after coming onto the pitch from the start of the 2nd half.
William would benefit from one more season at U19 level to develop his playmaking abilities. Huge potential in him, I would not be surprised to see him ‘climbing the ladder ‘ to the first team starting eleven within the next 2 years.
Sebastian Larsen (Sønderjyske), striker born in 2007.
Often when scouting the same players, we tend to fall into the ‘confirmation bias’. With Sebastian after observing him in Sønderjyske vs Brøndby IF (click here for the article) it is extremely difficult not to fall into that.
Sebastian showed the same good things which impressed in the previous game plus he scored 2 goals! The first one by ‘smelling’ the ball dropping in the far post area on a corner kick and safe finish with inside of his foot. And 2nd goal by staying onside on a counter and finish with a precise shot in the bottom corner of the goal as the opponent goalkeeper was approaching.
His strengths again protecting the ball with man on back using his body and strength, setting the ball with quality when receiving back to goal, playing his team mates in the back space with well paced through passes. Good heading technique and this time also some success in his offensive 1v1s.
His development at high pace is there to be seen. The goals we was wishing for are coming and will keep on coming. An achievable goal now seems to be his debut in the first team the next season in Superliga.
To FOLLOW also FCK goalkeeper Oscar Buur, centre-back Aksel Halsgaard and forward Julius Emefile; and Sønderjyske defensive midfielder Jonas Jønsson and wingers Tinus Olesen & Elias Hjort-Pedersen.
