First report from a match between two teams from Jutland, AaB and Silkeborg!
The match was played in AaB’s Anlæg on a sunny and warm day where small breaks in both halves were allowed for the players to rehydrate.
Both teams in 1-4-3-3 played a ‘balanced’ match with interesting tactical solutions, especially in possession. Aab could have snatched the win with a late goal in extra time.
Silkeborg, coached by Kim Andersen, with both full-backs in high position in the build up and wingers inside the pitch with Lasse Madsen often dropping beside the CBs to receive and switch the play towards the opposite FB (see image below). Good intensity in the pressure with well coordinated movements between the first two lines.

AaB head coach Peter Løvenkrands also moved their LW, Nikolai Andersen, ‘between the lines’ in the build up to connect with the midfield. The opposite winger, Oscar Meedom, kept high and wide to use his speed in the back space.
But who were the players which ‘shined’ in this match?!
Amar Diagne (AaB), offensive midfielder born in 2006.
Amar showed outstanding dribbling skills! He was able to retain the ball under pressure with great control and to break the opposition block by progressing with the ball and changing speed. Also precise in his passes both when switching the play or when playing ‘through’. Aggressive in tackles.
It looked at times ‘too easy’ for him at this level. The transition into first team football, perhaps in 1st division, could help him developing his decision-making on and off the ball and collecting experience which will be necessary to compete for a spot in Superliga.
Malthe Kjølby (Aab), centre-back born in 2006 who had to be replaced after 25 mins for an injury.
This time was enough for him to show his strengths. Size, aggressiveness and pace! Malthe was not afraid of pressing his opponents far into the opposition half. His speed and reading of the game made it look like a safe decision. Good composure also on the ball where he showed control and precision in his passes.
One more season in U19 Ligaen together with some exposure in the first team trainings could make him ready for the big jump in AaB senior squad.
Marcus Bonde (AaB), tall defensive midfielder born in 2007.
Marcus looked solid on the ball, he rarely lost it under pressure and position himself well in support to link the play. Defensively he was focused and disciplined, he pressed and challenged his opponents in midfield and run back into the penalty box to intercept crosses.
Regular playing time in U19 Ligaen for one more season could help him gain confidence in taking more risks in playing forwards. He also showed potential to become an option for the senior team in 1-2 years time.
Sebastian Christoffersen (Silkeborg), mobile striker born in 2007.
Sebastian has good physique which he uses well to protect the ball when back to the goal and at the same time is able to attack the back space with well-timed runs. Technically he looked ‘clean’ both in passing and receiving. Also he seemed very smart and aggressive in the pressure giving his team the opportunity to press higher up the pitch.
More experience (1-2 seasons) at U19 level will allow him to become more present and dangerous in the box. The ‘signs’ are there for him to fit into the first team playing style in the near future.
Sebastian Biller (Silkeborg), fast and creative winger born in 2006.
Sebastian showed a moment of high level technique when he received the ball in the penalty box and quickly got the ball out of his feet to place the ball into the far corner with a precise curved shot. Only a great save from the opponents GK, Bertil Grönkjaer, stopped him from scoring. Sebastian was also very comfortable in receiving the ball between the lines and in turning at speed within tight areas. His vision and precision allow him to find his team mates in the penalty box.
Building on his overall strength, he could become the ‘X factor’ in a lower division team which is looking for an ‘Insigne’ type in the front line.
To FOLLOW also AaB goalkeeper Bertil Grönkjaer and strikers Bertram Skovgaard & Victor Fjeldgaard (all born in 2007); and Silkeborg centre-back Sebastian Laustsen and midfielder Lasse Madsen.
