The ‘big match’ in the U19 Ligaen ends with the same result (3-2) of the game between the two respective first teams which met in the beginning of May!
One of the ‘keys’ of the game to be found in how the two teams handled their transitions. Brøndby man-to-man in rest defense (as in the imagine below) and Midtjylland led by Allan Jepsen using their speedy forwards to hit on counterattack.

Midtjylland also very solid in defense especially in the middle where the two CBs, Bjerge and Andersen, protected by Djabi gave the opposition forwards a ‘hard time’.
Difficult to pick only few but I’ll go more in details with 3 Midtjylland players and 1 from Brøndby!
Alamara Djabi (Midtjylland), defensive midfielder born in 2006.
Alamara dominated in midfield by winning most of his duels. Impressive his aggressiveness in tackling and counterpressing. He looked ‘relaxed’ on the ball always able to get out of difficult situations when under pressure, precise in passing (both over short and long distances) which together with his good vision make a well rounded nr 6.
‘The sky is the limit’ for Alamara which potential is very big and performance way above the average of the league. A good transition into the first team could bring him to play in Superliga in the next 1-2 years.
Gustav Bjerge (Midtjylland), right footed CB born also in 2006.
Gustav game intelligence put him and his team always one step ahead. His positioning and reading of the play out of possession allowed him to intercept the opposition forward play and to ‘recycle’ the ball with quality. On the ball he was able to ‘drive’ into midfield and play accurate progressive passes which allowed his team mates to get into good scoring opportunities.
Gustav is ready for first team football and a loan in 1st division or similar level league could prepare him for making his way into first team football.
Julius Voldby (Midtjylland), ‘target player’ born in 2005, raised in AC Horsens.
Julius is a physically dominant striker, able to keep the ball when receiving back to goal and set his team mates up but also to run in the back space. His movements off the ball were more mature than what you expect at his age showing a big potential in terms of scoring goals. He can head the ball and recognize spaces in the opposition defensive line and in the box.
A loan like the one Orri Óskarsson from FCK benefited from by playing for Sønderjyske could be a good solution for Julius to come back to the first team with more tools in his bag.
William Sonne-Schmidt (Brøndby IF), goalkeeper born in 2007
A brave performance from William who was playing against much older opponents and was not afraid to come off his line to protect the space behind his defenders. Good size, agility and mobility, made himself ‘big’ and blocked a couple of dangerous shots from close range with his feet. Seemed also comfortable with the ball in the build up.
One more season at U19 level is needed before getting some experience in senior football. But a bright future ahead, Brøndby IF is in good hands.
To FOLLOW also Midtjylland wingers Mikel Gogorza (scored two goals) & Stanley Iheanacho, the other CB Adam Andersen and their LB from Iceland Daníel Freyr Kristjánsson; would be too easy to predict a great career for Brøndby forward Oscar Schwartau at this stage. I see also good potential in Brøndby RB Rasmus Lynder, DFM Adam Claridge (see the article ‘Sønderjyske vs Brøndby IF’ for more) and LW Clement Bischoff.
